The fire totally devastated the gym destroying the contents entirely.   The gym was out of operation for nine (9) months, during which time Joe DeGuardia worked on completing renovation on the landmark gym.  Morris Park Boxing Club officially reopened its doors in August 2010, thanks a landlord who knows how to take a punch.
